Since 2012 Rotary Club Sarajevo has proudly implemented the “Rotary Scholarship for Excellence”, a flagship initiative focused on promoting academic success and civic engagement among high-school students. The project also increases the visibility of Rotary’s mission in the local community and offers a framework where young people can fully develop their potential.

Every school year the project is delivered in partnership with up to 10 secondary schools in Sarajevo, including the SOS Children’s Village, and it is financed through the traditional “Rotary Concert for Excellence”. Scholarships are awarded to exceptional pupils based on their academic record and participation in extracurricular activities. During the 2025 school year the program supported 15 students for 10 months, providing 150 KM per month and a total of 22,500 KM in direct financial assistance.

Beyond financial aid, the project promotes personal and professional growth through mentoring, connecting students with Rotary members and partners. Selected students are encouraged to join the Interact Club Sarajevo, strengthening their leadership and volunteer skills. We extend sincere gratitude to District 1910 for its constant support of this mission.

Looking ahead, Rotary Club Sarajevo aims to expand the program and increase the number of scholarships in the coming years. By reinforcing fundraising and partnerships we want even more talented young people to advance and contribute to society.

In view of rising living costs and inflation, the club plans to raise the stipend to 200 KM per month for the 2025/2026 school year. Each stipend will again cover 10 months, resulting in 2,000 KM per student, with a planned increase to 18 scholarship recipients. The total allocation of 36,000 KM—approximately 18,400 EUR—is a vital investment in excellence.

Additionally, our partner this year is Rotary Club Bijeljina, which has committed to funding one full stipend worth 2,000 KM, reaffirming the strength of Rotary solidarity.
