Rotary Fountain in Sarajevo

Rotary Club Sarajevo marked the 100th anniversary of Rotary International by opening a memorial fountain in the center of Sarajevo on October 25, 2011. The memorial fountain is designed in the shape of the Rotary wheel and with other symbols of the Rotary movement. The Rotary fountain is located in the city center, in the park between the Municipality Center and Canton Sarajevo headquarters on one side, and the Miljacka River and Skenderija on the other

The opening of the Rotary fountain was attended by high officials of the Municipality Center, the City and Canton of Sarajevo, most RC members, friends, and numerous press teams. The Governor of Rotary District 1910, Mr. Paul Jankowitsch, also participated in this ceremony. Rotary clubs in BiH, including RC Sarajevo, organizationally belong to this district.


"It is my pleasure to be in Sarajevo to support such projects and our goal is to activate young people," said District 1910 Governor Mr. Paul Jankowitsch in his address.


Member of Rotary Club Sarajevo, Mr. Nazif Hasanbegović, emphasized that the Rotary movement brings together people who have a developed sense of responsibility towards society, and whose main mission is charity.


Rotary Club Sarajevo contributes to the local and wider community in mitigating the consequences of war with projects such as assistance to disabled and handicapped people, providing wheelchairs, demining, donations to flood-affected Pakistan, assistance to the Public Institution "Home for Children Without Parental Care" Bjelave, etc. Most of these projects have been implemented in cooperation and with the help of friends from numerous Rotary clubs from almost all over the world.
