Aid Packages to Institutions Struck by the COVID-19 Pandemic
RC Sarajevo and RC Sarajevo Ilidža delivered tailored aid packages to the Bjelave children’s home and the Center for blind and partially sighted youth, focusing on safety and social support during the pandemic.
Goal
The project provided aid packages for two institutions in Sarajevo—“Home for Children without Parental Care Bjelave” and the “Center for Blind and Partially Sighted Children and Youth.” Each package was tailored to residents’ needs, recognizing that these vulnerable groups were heavily impacted by the pandemic.
Rotary Club Sarajevo activities
For the 96 children living in Bjelave Home, personalized gift packages were assembled, primarily with food items, accompanied by handwritten messages to encourage socialization and remind them that the community cares about their wellbeing.
Rotary Club Sarajevo Ilidža activities
The Center for Blind and Partially Sighted Children and Youth received disinfectants, antiseptics, face masks, latex gloves, cleaning supplies, laundry detergents and tablets. The Center includes a primary school with 25 students, a secondary school with 28 students, three boarders (56 students total) and 61 staff members.
Current socioeconomic pressures make daily operations difficult for these institutions, so the additional support helped ensure continuity of care for all beneficiaries.
